Samsung First Take On An Adroid With The Samsung Vibrant
Samsung’s Vibrant is their newest release from the hot Galaxy S series of Android smart phones. Its slick design, soft edges and clean lines make this smart phone easy on the eyes. The Vibrant is 4.82 inches tall, 2.54 inches wide, 0.39 inch thick and weighs in at 4.16 ounces.
All the video, graphics, apps and text look absolutely brilliant on its vivid, 4 inch, 400 by 800 pixel, Super AMOLED™ touch screen. It also has an anti-reflective screen, which keeps you working in sunlight or lowlight. The virtual QWERTY keyboard with SWYPE™ text input gets your message across at the speed of light. An exceptionally fast 1 GHz Hummingbird Cortex A8 processor makes for speedy downloads. Create original content with a 5 megapixel camera/camcorder with autofocus and a 720p HD video recorder or use the Music Player to listen to your favorite tunes. Memory is expandable up to 32GB. Of course, the Vibrant isn’t the first phone in the martket with these features, but it still makes this a major contender and available on all four major U.S. Carriers. So with a two year contract with T-Mobile, you’ll be able to get a $199.99 offer for the Vibrant.
The Samsung Vibrant is powered by Google’s Android 2.1 operating system, which can also be upgradeable to the 2.2 OS. The Vibrant is WiFi enabled and includes a full HTML browser with pinch to zoom and integrated with Google Mobile Services including search, YouTube and Google Maps. The Samsung Vibrant integrates email, instant messages and SNS into one address book. As with many other smart phones, battery life is nothing to write home about. Charge the battery every night and carry a spare.
James Cameron’s blockbuster hit, Avatar, and a mobile edition of the game, The Sims 3, are included in the 2GB external card. You’ll be able to search through 600,000 different books from Amazon’s Kindle for Android™ application or watch from over 35 live channels such as ESPN, NBC and Bravo. If that’s not enough to keep you busy, visit the Samsung online store with over 65,000 applications and counting. An onboard virtual guide is available in English and Spanish featuring Flash, HTML, video and animation training or download it in a .pdf or DjVu format.
