Two Phones, One Focus
T-Mobile HD2
The HTC HD2 has a 4.3 inch pixel display based on capacitive touch technology. Typing applications is a synch with the large screen and full keyboard. The cellular phone processes data at incredible speeds based upon the 1 GHz Snapdragon processor embedded in the device. Each of the phone’s crucial social networking applications is easy to access. Functions, such as mail, calendar, browser, messaging and Facebook are all at the user’s disposal. Users need not be concerned with setting their local time. The mobile phone routinely adjusts to display the time, local weather, news and other relevant information of the locale.
The phone also has the capability to enable the user to compose an email to a business contact. Instantaneously the without leaving the e-mail screen, the user can follow up with a phone call. Immediately, an icon will display for the calls. A similar function is also available in calendar mode and other screens where there is a need to dial and view information at the same time.. Conference calls are also straightforward with HTC EVO. Just tap the picture of every person that needs to be included in the call and he/she will be connected automatically.
The HTC HD2 features a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and a dual LED flash. The cell phone captures pictures brilliantly. Displaying pictures for friends will be a fantastic experience specially when friends become envious of the large touchscreen and clarity that the HTC HD2 provides.
Sprint HTC EVO
The HTC EVO comes with Android 2.1 and has a large 4.3 inch high resolution, touch screen display. This particular mobile phone is the first WiMAX smartphone developed in the United States. This phone, very similar to the T-Mobile HD2, has a 1 GHz processor intended to provide quick response times. The phone possesses modern features such as kickstand for viewing television programming or videos. Also, the cellular phone features TV output to stream videos recorded from the phone to the larger display. Other significant features include WiFi capabilities, GPS navigation, FM radio, memory card slot, Qik video recording, live streaming video and HD video capture. Rouding out the list of HTC EVO 4G features, an 8 MP camera is on the back of the phone to capture detailed photos.
The battery life on the HTC EVO 4G is relatively good, considering it can handle calls, streaming live television, web surfing and texts all on the same battery. Battery life would seem to be the only complaint users have about this phone so users may want to opt-in for extended HTC EVO 4G batteries. The high level of brightness required for the screen to be legible also tends to drain the battery. The phone possesses voice to text functionality, and based to reviews, the design is amazing.
Comparison:
Battery Life
The battery of T-Mobile HTC HD2 can support up to 380 minutes of talk time on a GSM network and 320 minutes on WCDMA. The power will last up to 490 hours on standby with GSM network and 390 hours with WCDMA network. Using extensive video playback, the battery will last 8 hours so investing in HTC HD2 accessories that extend battery life would be worthwhile. HTC HD2 will provide 12 hours of audio playback.
The battery life of HTC EVO has not been officially released. However, users have commented that their batteries last between 8 and 12 hours while handling multiple calls, text, streaming live television, and web surfing.
Speed and Screen Resolution
Speed
Both cellular phones possess comparable speeds with a 1 GHz processor. The processor enables web apps to be loaded within 10 seconds, unlike slower processors, which may take up to 40 seconds.
Screen Resolution
Both the HTC HD2 and the HTC EVO 4G possess a screen resolution of 480×800 WVGA. Both mobile phones seem fairly comparable in this area.
Camera
HTC EVO arrives equipped with an 8 megapixel camera that is better-quality than the HTC HD2 5 megapixel camera.
Overall
The HTC HD2 and HTC EVO have many comparable features. However, the programs on the HTC HD2 cater more to the business professional’s life by focusing on conference calls, calendar updates and social networking for business. The HTC EVO, on the other hand seems to focus more on the entertainment aspects, such as TV, radio, video record and playback. The cellular phones are remarkably alike; however, each phone runs on a different network. Sprint manages the network for HTC EVO. T-Mobile manages the network for HTC HD2.
