BlackBerry Bold 9700 The Newest Edition Of Business Device Unleashed by Matthew Christian
The latest business device from BlackBerry, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 has been available since November, 2009. This device is essentially a quad-band GSM based device but it also includes support for tri-band 3G service. Embodying a standard BlackBerry design, this device includes a full QWERTY keypad that makes it really convenient for texting and messaging. The display of the phone is a 2.44 inches TFT screen and it’s lower part includes a touch-sensitive optical trackpad for easy access to applications.
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 runs the new BlackBerry OS 5.0 operating system and includes a 624 MHz processor. The internal memory consists of a 128 MB RAM apart from a 256 MB storage which can be expanded fully up to 16GB. A 2GB microSD card is compulsorily included in the standard retail pack. While Class10 GPRS allows internet access through a built-in HTML web browser, the Wi-Fi allows the phone to access any local area network. Data can be downloaded in high speeds with 3G HSDPA which is available @ 3.6Mbps. Bluetooth and USB are also available that allow users to share and transfer data quite conveniently. Also included is a GPS receiver with A-GPS support and a featured BlackBerry Maps application. However the presence of a small display can severely limit the efficiency of any device to be used for SatNav.
The 3.15 mega pixel camera is a decent upgrade from the 2 mega pixel units found in some of the previous devices in the Bold series. Auto-focus and LED flash are also very healthy inclusions. The media player on the other hand offers good options for entertainment with capability to play back MP3, WMA,AAC+, MP3,WMA and AAC+ audio and video formats. Music can be either enjoyed in the built-in speakerphone or a convenient headset can be plugged in through the 3.5 mm audio port.
Being a business device, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is also capable in configuring various Email accounts for the users and also connects to business and corporate servers like Microsoft Exchange. Also includes a Document editor (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF) for viewing as well as editing important office documents. The included Standard Li-Ion battery offers good battery back up with a standby time of up to 408 hours while the talk time available is an amazing 6 Hours.
